the chassis on the stock S is one of the stiffest on the planet to begin with. I think the weight reduction is minimal and the ground effects make a difference on the track.

I guess if I had an extra 37k to blow on a track car, I might consider it. but since I don't and I like driving on the street, I'll stick with my ap1

Let's hope that the Civic/Integra crowd does, and they stay away from our cars .

I like the concept of the car, and if it is classed in autocross the same (AS) as the standard model, it will raise the bar ... slightly.

OK guys I guess I'm the only one that likes the car. I've seen pictures in red white and black and it looks awesome as to the seats I don't think the production car will have that color combo by the way who needs air I drove mine with the top down all the time (except in the rain of course) I just wish they would call it AP3, Come on it's a collector's car

I think most ppl on here hate to see that Honda is making an S that's better than everyone else's was in stock form. The car's definately going to be a collectors car. It's also going to be a serious track car once the right people get ahold of it (i.e. spoon). Honda's R cars have always had the chassis gauge doubled in key areas to add even higher rigidity. Add to that they they already removed the soft top assembly and all the sound deadning materials.. You're well on your way to having the lightest S around right off the bat. Hate it or love it, It'll still drive better than most ppl's s2ks.

I can shave off 100 lbs on my AP1 and still have my 9k rpm..and still whup but .

They basically said they removed amenities and call it a the best one..
Like I said if we remove our top , spare wheel ...and exhaust.

We will be there, the fact that they dont have any comparisons really bothers me.

I love honda...but not this S

Wait wait wait wait..... slow down everyone.

Let's call this car what it really is; A last ditch attempt to sell S2000s.

Except for the 200 that are going to be completely stripped (a la Lotus Exige) the rest are merely going to be an attempt by Honda to put a little life in a dying car. The sales numbers have never really been there and don't be suprised if you see an '08 S2000 CR on the lot come next fall with a highly reduced sticker. If they dont come with A/C or Radio no one in thier right mind will buy them down here in Florida as a daily driver. Period.

Now if they stay true to the 200 stripped CRs then we will see some serious Club Racers as they are going to be called. The Solstice Club Racer isn't completely stripped but is a great car for SCCA racing especially with the extended 3rd gear. So maybe we can see something like that with the s2000 cr where we get a class in which we can race them (and hopefully if people modify there s2000 to meet the requirement, we can race but doubtful with different engine/tranny packages on the AP1/2)

As for the comparision let's wait until a real car magazine gets one because as of right now Honda probably has them on a NDA so they can't disclose any information. That article is actually the second I read. Modified Mag had one and didn't post numbers either.

The real decision maker will be when Motor Trend and Car and Driver do there annual test of the roadsters. Even though the S2000 is still on the market they are always over looked. Lately it has been the Solstice GXP, 350z, and Z4 on the comparisons and not the s2000 which will out perform the GXP and 350z while giving the Z4 a run for its money. If the CR is in the next comparison then we know they are taking it for real if not it's just another Honda with an extra badge.

Personally I like them and if I had the money I'd get a stripped one. So fu.ck all you haters.... pour out that hater-aide

I live in Florida and i'd buy it without a/c if the price was right. It would keep miles off the odometer which is never a bad thing. Winter/ evening car..
