Default What to take on long trips?

Hey what do all of you take as far as emergancy stuff for a long trip in the S? In the RSX I just made sure I had a normal roadside kit and that the donut spare had air in it. Should I consider the same for the S? Also, I will probably be at about 1200 miles when I go to do the trip should I get the oil changed before I leave or leave the break-in oil in until I get to Dallas?

Oh and the reason I ask this is because of my history with air-cooled VW's. If you ever go on a long trip in a beetle or ghia always carry a spare fan belt (and make sure your spare tire has tread).

Can't say I've done a trip that long in the S, but when we went to TN for WTD, some of us took stuff like the spare tire, kit, can of fix-a-flat, quart or two of oil, and a AAA card!

By the way, I believe the owner's manual tells you not to do your first oil change until 7,500 miles. Don't see why you'd have to change it before you leave on the trip.

Good luck! How many days will it take to do that drive?

Golf clubs.

I've done 2 trips of 2600-2700 miles round trip each in the past year. Had the spare, 2 extra quarts of Mobil1 and small container each of gas & water.

The best "prep" idea I can give you is to have your tires rotated, balanced and aligned before you leave.

I usually stop around Lakeland for a rest and then do the remainder of the drive. It's not a bad drive, just not many areas you can speed through so cruise control is used quite a bit.

Rotate tires on a car with staggered wheels??????

The above are all good ideas, I would also add an Ipod with lots of music, XM radio. and a good radar detector

I say a roll of duct tape too. You can fix ANYTHING with duct tape.

You would have to take the tires off the rims since they only go one way...

If you're traveling with a +1, or even if you have a lot of stuff with you, I've found that the shelf behind the seats (where the top goes when it's down) is great for lots of storage, especially snacks and things. If there's no +1, then you can always use the passenger seat.
