IMO, I guess it really depends on how often I take the S to the track. If it is going every other weekend in the summer and I have the luxury of a daily beater, I wouldn't mine getting that exhaust -- only if I was driving the S to a point where I feel it has reached its limits.
My S is my daily beater so I'd opt for a relatively quieter exhaust most of the time. Staying @ 4500 rpm all the time on the highway on a stock exhaust already makes it difficult for me to chat w/ my passenger.
Besides, if you didn't have a cat, the popo can smell you from a mile away -- I know I could on that A4 that was egging on me the other nite, but he had a upgraded turbo and was purposely downshifting right in front of me to shoot off some flames.
That being said, $2g's for 7-8 hp gain sounds a bit steep for me, perhaps I can invest that $ into suspension or even milder engine mods or maybe invest that into track schools so I can learn how to drive my S faster around the track to make up for the 7-8 hp that I didn't gain from the car.

So after he ripped it a couple of times and was in front of me @ a red light, it stunk like Pepe LePew.

Holy thread revival. Tiwe, I would NOT recommend the Speed N1 if you have any adversity to loud exhausts. It's actually not the loudness; it's the droning. Do it right the first time and splurge few grand on an Amuse dual R1 . It's the only way to go (other than stock) in my limited opinion.
Seriously though, while one of the most expensive, it's also one of the nicest looking, most tolerable sounding on the market. And the 100 mm exhaust tips will go well with your 04 bumper.
