EPS working? No light
Hey guys,
I have only taken the S2000 out twice so far this year, and I kind of felt like the steering was heavier than I remember. I am ashamed to say I can't say for sure because I drive the car so little I forget what it is supposed to feel like. Of course, my daily Civic has extremely light power steering so I can't tell if the S2000 has an actual problem or if it is just that I became unfamiliar to its feeling... I only put about 1000km a year on it.
It does feel like a car with no power steering. The thing is I have no EPS light lit up.
Other S2KI members have said they have a similar problem but in addition to a heavy steering feel, for them it is also jerky on a left or right turn or both. I don't have those problems, mine just feels heavier than I remember. I hear some people have had to get the torque sensor reset.
Is there anyone in the north-west Mississauga, west Brampton, Georgetown, Milton or Acton area that can meet up and test it? I need an S2000 owners opinion.

It would be, but its just too far out for me. Was hoping someone was close. I have to pick up my wife as well so I have to be around the area.
I wouldn't mind going to a few meets if we had them closer by. I'm in Halton region.

your EPS light should come on when you start the car to be sure the actual "EPS" light works. Otherwise, have someone drive your car.
good luck and enjoy the ride!

I had that a year ago when I disconnected my instrument panel, it was like steering assist was greatly decreased, as soon as I reconnected my instrument panel it was fully restored. Apparently the eps controls go through the cluster. Not of any help to you, but I can relate to what you are describing. Once the full assist was restored I almost missed the way that it was with lowered assist lol.

EPS light stays on before starting the car, but turns off after you start the engine. I think this is normal, correct?
Here is a pic of my fuse box. It has a 70amp fuse where I believe it is the location for EPS.
Picked up my wife in the S2000 and I still think it is too firm.

Low-er power steering fluid?
FWIW; A friend of a friends shop did my clutch job on my S2 and they left the subframe bolts hand-tight, car was loose as hell in the front end yet the steering felt unusually tight.. This probably isn't the issue in your case, but a "heavy" steering could be so many possibilities without a KNOWLEDGEABLE mechanic looking at it.. Otherwise people may just get you to throw parts at it.. (I was told I needed stabilizer links cause the front end was loose.. to it to my other mechanic and he saw right away that the bolts were dangling)..
