Thanks for the input. And yea i realise there is a trade-off for flow and filtering ability but i was just curious to know if anyone had specs on the OEM. The info posted by FluKy15 was very helpful.

I did find it odd that the new filter i bought was packaged with the updated filter number on the plastic cover but the filter itself was not labelled and only had 6 base flow holes like the previous version...i think i got ripped off! blah.

finding published specs on micron filtering ratings and pressure relief valves is almost impossible to find, particularly for something like a Honda filter. All filters have to meet a minimum standard of filtering and that is all they will tell you is that they meet or surpass the spec. . Everything I've seen is just basic dissection of filters and one oil pressure test on BITOG, I wish there was more information available out there though, it would be good to know.
