Didn't know they made them with glass tops, glass is just a pain on the electric ones, looks nice in the showroom and that's all, they are hard to clean and they don't work that great.

we got all our dacor stuff from appliance canada....convection wall oven, 5 burner gas top, microwave, downdraft vent....it was a killer deal.

we ended up installing an overhead as well.....

i was thinking of selling the downdraft, but we have a granite counter, and i wouldn't be able to get rid of the "cutout" left by the downdraft.

we ended up getting the higher HP blower (which may be the problem), and i wasn't going to spend another $600 for the smaller blower just to find out that it *may* or *may not* work.

bastards really should tell people that a downdraft doesn't really work well with gas tops....it REALLY pulls the flame towards it....and on low heat, it actually puts out the flame.

that said, it works great on eletric tops...my parents have had one for 15+ years - no issues.

Just as I thought. Bastards! I've read a few reviews that mention just that issue. We are going for the island hood as well. Shit this reno is going to be huge $$$
