Window motor replacement? FIXED!
Hey, so after a good night of celebrating one of my friends birthdays and driving home with the top down, I finally get home.
Anyways, i pulled into my driveway and put the top up then closed my radio door, you know, the usual spill.
Well i open my drivers door and while im putting my windows up, a dime falls out of my pocket and hits the concrete.
We'll the dime made an even louder thud sound than i had expected, so i looked around on the ground to see what had fallen out of my pocket. I didnt see anything out of the ordinary except for a dime on the ground.
Well....
i looked back up and my driver's side window is gone. GONE!!
so as any pissed off person is when their window comes off track when they have to work the next morning and its supposed to piss pour, i decided to pull it in the garage and take a look.
I went into this thinking it could be fixed with a simple "pull the panel off and re-align the window"
NO.
it cant.
i started looking and the braided metal tension line that rolls the window up and down had snapped.
is this a normal issue with these cars or did i just get lucky enough to have this happen?
im taking and dropping my car off at honda on friday since im going out of town for the weekend and hoping they can have it fixed by sunday night.
so i guess my question is, what parts is this going to require being replaced?
can they just replace this tension line or is it part of the motor assembly?
anyone have any idea what this could cost?
Car is a 2003 with only 50k on it.
Moral of the story... This sucks.

Wow, I've never heard/read of that happening before.
Did a quick search and came up with
this.
You can't really see the cable here, it's on the other side. It's shown much better in the service manual. I doubt the cable is sold seperate but that's just a hunch.

+1. I've never heard of anything remotely like that before. I had the driver's side regulator problem just after the time (not to be confused with mileage) warranty ran out.
The dealer graciously offered to do a goodwill repair if they supplied the parts and I paid for the labor. As a new second owner I didn't know the difference and thought I was getting a pretty good deal.
Consequently I've never darkened their door with a problem since.
