Default Buying from Private Seller, Auto Insurance?

Hey guys,

I'm close to closing a deal to buy an S2000 from a private seller, does anyone know what I need to do to have it insured as soon as I buy it from him? Reason I ask is because, isn't the car technically not insured when I buy the car from the private seller and drive it to the insurance office?

I live in Texas, if that helps at all.

Any feedback will be most appreciated, thanks!

Shaun

Agreed. They can make the effective date of the policy to whatever day you want it to be in the future, just ensure to call BEFORE you pick it up.
If you have any concerns ( ) from a peace officer, you can have your insurance send you proof for the court.

If you currently have an auto insurance policy then your company should cover a newly purchased vehicle for up to 30 days. I've had state farm, all state, and travelers.

I would contact your insurer and see if this applies to your policy.

yep, like stated above, and also if you are going to sell your current vehicle like i did, just have them xfer the coverage over to your new car and they'll tell you what the difference in price will be. just grab the vin for them to make it seamless.
