Iv got a concern :/
Just recently iv noticed that in first gear my v tec isn't kickin in till about 1k rpms after 6k, but not sure about the other gears. is this something I should be worried about and or get checked out asap ?
It's def. a problem - I'd get it checked out ASAP.
Were you at 3 bars on the temp gauge? Gotta have it warmed up before hitting VTEC.

Check your oil?
thanks for yall's comments! i had a friend suggest a re flash (not sure if I'm properly wording that)..... i have no check engine lights, nothing is overheating, and no weird noises! maybe this is a valve spring issue.. ? I'm not too too familiar with these motors but this is really worrying me! its not a sever issue as of yet since hitting vtec is not a regular thing for me just occasionally when I'm on cruises... driving it regularly as an everyday car nothing is wrong but I'm afraid this might be something that could progress into a serious issue! is there anyone who would be able to give me hands on help with this, it would me much appreciated!
I would highly recommend posting this in the "Under the Hood" forum section off of the main s2ki page or posting it over on s2kca for Xviper (aka repiv) to diagnose it. They have some good people over there.
Vtec is electronically controlled by the ecu. For some reason it doesnt want to turn it on until late in the game in 1st gear. If I remember correctly, all its using for inputs are engine rpm, engine load, vehicle speed, and coolant temp. Maybe check your air filter or see if your throttle body is gunked up. Also check oil flow problems. Maybe its trying to command it on but there's an oil flow restriction causing a delay. Possibly the screen on the vtec control switch (located right above the tensioner).
