you don't have to, but if it give you peace of mind, then perhaps you might want to get one. I happen to have one sitting around. I'll sell it to ya if you want.

it's actually a lil bit higher than where the intake is. There's only one place to put the bypass valve. It wont sound as good w/o it, but save you $$$$$ when high water hits. Just dont drive it in deep water

I can't tell you how many times I've been caught in a heavy downpour resulting in some fairly high water. My car is lowered, which adds to the concern. I have the Comptech CAI, so it isn't that big a problem for me like people with the AEM unit.

You just need to be extremely careful with any standing water. I just find high ground and wait for the water to clear.

You put the bypass valve where the piping meets in the middle of the CAI.

The car will still sound good, but sounds a tad bit better if it's not on there. A minor point if you ask me. The main thing is people have found that the bypass valve negates what small gains you get from the CAI, so you just paid to have your car sound better, rather than sound better and perform better.

I don't know where you drive, but I don't think you need it. If it's gonna rain, just drive the 2nd car. If you are stuck in the S and you see water, find another way. Don't go submerging that filter, that's how I understand it.

You have to pretty much submerge the filter to suck up water, but don't take my word for it, just take extra precautions.
