Yea reseting the bios requires u to open up the PS3. But Im trying to look around and seeing if I can find out how to reflash the firmware.

 

Maybe you can ask your coworkers on how to do it...theres nothing online regarding the reflashing of the ps3.

 

Ok well it looks like u need a infectus mod chip in order to downgrade ur firmware and then upgrade..... im still lookin so maybe i can find a alternate method.

 

Haha, yeah, I know that method and its not really something I want to do...espeacially if Sony finds out you have an infectious mod chip installed they'll ban you from the PSN for life.

 

Yea.... other than that I dunno.... I guess u could do a system swap. But I wouldnt do that because if u dunno how to open the system w/o breaking the seal then u are screwed. U didnt get any warranty for the PS3?

 

I have the warranty for another 2 months. I just don't want to go through all that b/s just the get my system up and running. On top of that, if I send it in, they may just replace it with the new 80 gig version which would really suck since it doesn't have the ps2 emotion chip built in.

 

Better than having a nice shiny paper weight right? Well I meant warranty for the system through third party vendor's ie... Fry's Performance plan or Best Buy's warranty thing. Most of them are done through AIG i believe, in which they will just return the system to Sony for a refund and give u another one right then and there.

 

Ah, no, I didn't buy the extended warranty. But even then, the problem will be fixed with a firmware update installed properly. The system does everything except play ps3 games so it isn't a total paper weight right now.

The only reason I got the Ps3 when I did was because of the discontinuation of the 60 gig version that had 100% backward compatibility...these new version do not.

So poo to the new sku's!

 

Crap I just bought a used ps3 60gig and gta last night....

 

Don't play GTA until everything is resolved.
