Default Q: Top Question

I don't think mine is going down (compressing) as low as it is supposed to go. The top on the Silverstone on the sales floor is more compressed than mine is but for all I know, they may have pushed it down. I don't want to damage something, that is for sure.

Any thoughts?

His car is new, so the straps are not wearing out. Do you have a pic?

Interesting topic... I was beginning to think my top wasn't going all the way down as well...

Has everyone experienced this after the car gets a few years old?

Not yet, but I can. I worked with it some (lower the top down in stages instead of all at once). Looks as if the glass isn't laying as flat as it could. I raised it one more time and then lowered it and it went down an additional 6 inches! I can actually touch the pins that are mounted on the backside of the rollbars (where you would attach the boot). Before I tinkered with it, I could hardly even see the pins; And in fact, I wouldn't have known they were there if I didn't see the diagram on the bottom side of the boot.

Thanks for the link; I found the modifry link while searching for help but I don't think that is the issue, unless the "popping" motion the top does while retracting is by design to help the parts fit where they need to fit to maximize the top... It is new so maybe it is still "breaking-in"?

Is there any truth to the idea that removing the rear tray allows the top sit lower when down.

This is another reason why I'm considering taking it out.

Sometimes my top doesn't go as low as usual, and my s2000 is pretty old.

Removing the tray does not let the top sit lower
