VTEC issues
it started yesterday.. I was on plano pwky and needed over. I downshifted. and about 7000 rpms the engine starts sputtering.. ok I did something funky when downshifting..
so on 544 I send it into the 7K area again.. does it again... today.. tried it again.. still doing it.. from about 7000-8200 it's sputtering.. acts like the engine is struggling for power. has anyone had this problem or know what it could be?
i don't want to take it in and it not be warranty and something I can do myself. as I would prefer to do my own repairs unless it's warrantied. so please any ideas or suggestions are most welcome
thanks
Chris

No CEL?
I'd try the MAP whack and go from there. If it was a misfire, I'd expect a code, so it sounds like something is wrong with the values the ECU is receiving and it is running rich/lean. That is why I suspect the MAP sensor.

Locate the MAP sensor - it's directly on top of the throttle body. Disconnect the wires that go to it - a simple plastic latch affair. Clean out any gunk from the connectors. Tap the sensor a couple times with the the blunt end of a screw driver. Reattached the wires, making sure it's completely seated.

nope no CEL...
I got to thinkin.. I wired up my amp and sub last week and when I hooked everything back up I didn't reset the computer.. I just started it up and drove off...
could this have been a culprit?

I'd still stick with the MAP whack as a first simple procedure to attempt to resolve the problem, however I wouldn't rule out the stereo install as a possible culprit. If you really managed to hose up the wiring, I could see there being a possible impact on the ignition/electrical system.

A audio system shouldnt have any effects on your motor.
the problem is fixed.. i did whack (tap) on the MAP a couple times. hit it with the air compressor as well. problem solved!
