Surging
Well, guys, my S2000 is having trouble at 22k miles. It's surging. Here are the specifics:
1) When accelerating, the engine does fine until it hits VTEC. Once in VTEC, the engine power surges rather seriously. Upon coming down out of VTEC, the engine will continue to surge for about 5 seconds, and then settle and be normal again. This happens everytime I hit VTEC now.
2) There is no check engine light.
3) I have not yet pulled the ECU fuse, since I don't want to eliminate any problem until a dealer has had a chance to look at it.
4) I think it's either a munged ECU or a clogged fuel pump.. anyone have any other suggestions?

Well, First off i would check your spark plugs and perform the MAP sensor fix just for grins... Whether or not thats your problem both of those operations are very easy and quick to perform without having to take it in. Personally i bet its the MAP sensor... I say that because you have yet to throw a code and MAP sensor problems seem to take a lot longer to throw a code.
Gotcha.. I still need the spark plug TSB and clutch TSB. I'm going to go ahead and schedule an appt. Thanks Dave.
BTW, I saw your car in Sport Compact Car -- nicely done!

davepk:
what is the map sensor fix? Is it just replacing it, or is there something else you "do". Just wondering, as I am having problems with cold engine starts, have yet to throw a CEL, and was wondering if maybe this could be the culprit.

The MAP sensor fix referes to removing the MAP sensor and "Whacking" it with a screw driver then reinstalling it. As near as i can tell this is geared toward dislodging any contaminates in the MAP sensor and has worked for me and others on several occasions.
