Chromed door pulls (interior) would have been my first wish list item, honest.
STOOPID glass window definately bottom! (Leave it Andy)
Seen the leather bound gearknob on the American site, must be for hotter / Colder climates than ours, like mine as it is.
Non performance wish list: Chrome door pulls, Alloy footrest, Upgraded stereo / speakers, leather gaiter, std increased security to reduce insurance grouping!
10,000 rpm tacho.(See below)
Performance wish list: 17" Wheels (lighter in weight), lightweight seats with race buckles!!
Gorgeous Brembo brakes from new ITR. Vented and cross drilled discs
Lightweight Exhaust (even single exit if rear end done properly)
9,500 red-line and 9,800rpm limiter
+20 Bhp, 15 lb/ft torque 80 kg lighter.
Then it might keep ahead of the new ITR on the track!!
God I could spend hours like this.
(Something else I 've just remembered after talking to the mate at the dealers, the roof with new glass window is to be' re-inforced with extra sound proofing for 2002 models).

With respect to the Gearbox and clutch the 2002 model year vehicle does have an improved tranny.
I did get a Friday car back in September 1999 and have just had clucth number 5 and gearbox number 3 fitted. Both have different part numbers to any unit that has been previously fitted and Honda UK did say my car has the new models drivetrain.
Must say my car is finally superb. The new gearbox is sweeter than the old boxes which vibrated and rattled in sympathy with the deterioration they experienced with every extra mile.
I have driven the car through thick traffic in London and not a hint of jerkiness or clutch slip that I used to experience. I am now very happy with the car, though a 18K service and Optimax petrol may have something to do with that. My car certainly feels smoother and faster than ever before and saw off a colleagues 2.7 Boxster with ease on a damp night last week.
Appears Porsche is set to always produce the stated bhp, even on 95 ron, whereas the S2000 was designed for 100 Octane so Optimax's 99.25 octane and dense cool air see us leaping up a few crucial bhp. Excellent!

Can you give any information as to what the gearbox problems felt like just in case they start happening on other cars?
As to the octane - UK/US cars run a lower compression ratio engine (11.1:1 I think from 11.7:1) than the Japanese spec engines. That's where the main bhp difference comes from. But it's done to make the engine happy on lower octane fuel. 98 Octane is fine.
This is also why some JDM upgrades don't work well outside Japan. ECU's tuned for the different compression. Also the HKS Super Charger is designed for JDM compression so it makes far less boost and therefore power than the Comptech which is designed for US spec.
