Default Aftermarket Stereo + Dash Controls?

My cd player only plays on the right hand speakers, dealer said it was the BUS cable and would need replacing. Said they could do it under warranty but would require ripping out both seats, carpets and trim, and they'd need it for a few days. If i did this i'd probably be taking it back with loose trim and squeaky seats from day 1, so i've opted for a replacement headunit.

I would like to keep the cockpit stereo controls still working, the only manufacturer i've found is alpine.

Is that the correct cable to use the exsisting stereo controls?

Any recommendations on a stero? I'd like mp3 playback and possibly a screen output for dvd.

Cheers

I've got a Alpine CDM-7871RM (it came with the car) and it works with the dash controls except every now and again I'll use the volume controls and it will skip a track on the cd or change radio station instead, very helpful.

That doesn't happen very often and it appears to be a pretty good stereo. I've been thinking about getting an iPod sleave thing fitted but I haven't got round to getting it organised yet.

This is I have removed a factory installed 'bus' cable and it took me no longer than 15minutes.

If you plan to replace the head unit the simplest solution is to get an Alpine head unit that is 'remote enabled' as this allows you to use the Alpine KCE dash control adapter.

Since I went for an MP3 head unit I rarely use the (MP3) CD changer.

It's in my sig .... KCE-865B.

There are often used ones for sale in the 'for sale' forum. IIRC potfish was selling one a few weeks back.

No! The Alpine loom plugs into the Adapter and this plugs into the Honda loom.

Steve is spot on as usual
Depending on which Alpine unit you go for you may need to add a direct supply from the battery (fused!) and a local earth for the HU.

If you don't want to be tied to Alpine (as they are currently the only head unit manufacturer currently providing a dash control interface), you could do as I have done and get an interface custom made for sub

Alpine isn't the only manufacturer to supply a control to radio interface, Clarion also do. If buy over a certain model (I cannot remember the cut off point, but I have the 948RMP which is fine), they provide harness that takes the input from the dash and puts into a port on the back of a the radio.

Part number for my radio for the S2000 is RCE-106W, costs
