Default Alarm Query

So, next week I am on the boat with the car and it's going to rock. How badly depends on the weather but I am hoping for plain sailing.

To save hassle and get a tannoy announcement of "Will the owner of the black (IT'S DEEP BURGUNDY!) S2000 Registration blablabla please come to the information desk" I want to lock the car without priming the alarm. Now according to all the litreture I have read it should be a case of pushing and holding the lock key, right?

Well, I've tried it and everytime I get 3 hazard flashes and the red indicator light inside goes on.

What am I doing wrong?

Also, does the OEM Honda installed alarm have knock/movement sensors anyway?

From the manual...

To disable the microwave sensors...

Remove the ignition key
push in the lock tab ( the button on the inside of the drivers door next to the handle ) with the drivers door open
then close the door

the security system indicator on the instrument panel comes on for 3 seconds then starts blinking.

However - Microwave sensors IIRC are more reliable then PIR's.
Anyone any experience of a newer S alarm going off on a ferry?

Why not just lock the car with the key and leave the alarm off? It's not as is someones going to nick it on a ferry.

Not sure if the newer cars can do that. The handbook doesn't say anything.

it does have movement sensors placed by the windscreen. To disable my sensor movement alarms when I go in somewhere leaving the roof down but the windows high I press the raised button as normal to set the alram, wait for the four flashes to complete, then press the raised button a second time (within 5 seconds i think) quickly this sets the 'three flashes' to show the movement sensors are disabled.
