Default Alpine headunit

Can anyone with an Alpine headunit tell me how to get the damn thing to automatically switch on with the ignition and select a present radio station/CD (whichever was last selected infact).

With mine, everything is working well until I turn the car off, lock it, come back, unlock it and switch it back on again at which point the headunit needs switching on manually - and then only selects the lowest frequency on the scale requiring me to select a preset station from one of the buttons

The instructions are far from clear on this and unless I've missed something don't mention anything about a function to sort this.

...oh, nearly forgot, I also need to stop it switching on a huge volume...

Anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Andy

Bad install mate as it sounds like its not got a constant live i.e. permanent power!

When you switch it off its getting reset.

It's not loosing any of the other settings - just not switching on automatically to either a CD/preset radio station.

Install is as per instructions/available leads using the cars orginal loom + Alpine adaptor.

You need a permanent live. Like i said, connect to the battery, not the OEM loom

Think the above advice is correct. You need to take the power feed directly from the battery.

Mine is done like this and will resume where it left off when ignition is switched off-on.

No it doesn't 'cos it stores those settings. But less important settings like what it was doing last get lost when it looses all power.

One thing to check it that the live (red?) and the switch ACC (yellow?) cable are not the wrong way around. The live one should be a direct cable to the battery (with a fuse in between).

Yep you need the live from the battery.
Make sure you fuse it BEFORE it goes through the bulkhead as well!
Or use the spare output from the fuse box as per the FAQ
