I plan on fitting my new S2000 with a gas turbine or the W16 from a Bugatti Veyron.

Or, a Cummins 16 litre diesel engine - these bad boys produce 1000lbs/ft of torque at 50 rpm and redline at 500 rpm so there would be no mucking about.

If you want a V8 in a sportscar buy a TVR!

The chap from tegiwa had a v8 ls1 and I thought the sound was truly awesome.... But he ended up writing it off!! I recall a figure of 3k for the conversion but no doubt it would be more but with your 14k budget you would have plenty of change....

Go for the V8!!!

Option one? £14k wont scratch the surface if you intend doing it right.
Just a quick guestimate for my built engine, turbo, gearbox/clutch and a strong rear end is conservativly between £30-£40k

Think you're thinking of the old KTA, which was 18 litres.

The ISX 15-litre can be rated up to 2,050 lb ft with a 200 lb ft overboost around 1,100 rpm and peak is 600 @ 1,800.

Enough torque to twist the chassis.

I agree about the TVR though. Mind you, the 4.0 six can be rebuilt reliable and if you really need more than 400 BHP/tonne in a road car in a damp climate, are you sure you're driving it right?

Even doing it on a budget but doing it right will run to £20k I would think. My gearbox clutch and diff where £15000.

The fuel sytem alone will cost around $2200.

My advice would be get a good stock engine/box and diff and run around 500whp.Once you go over 500 things start to get very serious and expensive.Just the ceramic coated hotside cost me around 1000-1200.

My car is a hobby so it doesnt really matter how much it costs and ive done the best I can with it....so no expense spared but I could easily write off maybe 2-3000 0n new parts that im not going to use.

The only stock parts on the car are the crank pully and the bottom wishbones, regarding the running gear.

Its around 1 years work and 1 year waiting for parts.

Would I do it again?

Probably.

If you look at any of the big build/mods on this forum, Razz, Matty, Cybergook, mb, they will all tell you the same.Big money goes nowhere.

Dont let this put you off but be realistic with your budget and be careful you dont run out of money.

Just to Claify 14k is just for the build / turbo.

This doesn't include the gearbox, clutch, drive shaft etc etc.

That is purely my rough budget for the engine... And for a turbo engine.

If a V8 produced a better graph and I declined to go for
It even if it came to 3K more for example I would just have to dig a bit deeper into my pockets.

It's interesting to read the mixed reviews, now I know why I am so indecisive about the car haha!!!

I do agree to an extent about the s2000 being defined by its Honda engine, however they are also defined by being a high compression N/A car, so both of my options wouldn't be keeping with the true Honda feel.... Not that I am going to lose sleep over it!!!!

Thanks for all the opinions and discussion, keep it coming!!!
