More work on the head , cleaned and valves being reseated , lots of cleaning before assembly as everywhere is full of grinding paste !,,, not good if any of that remains and lands up in the oil.

Gaping piston rings , time consuming to get right

Each ring is pushed into the bore square and striaght using a piston with a ring in the bottom groove so the ring lands up about 20mm down the bore , then you measure the gap with feelers and lots of messing with the grinder until you get the, correct gaps , slowly slowly catchie, the monkey !!! Then make sure there aren’t any burrs on the ground ends.

Noodles , sorry can’t answer really , the sizes have been a bit of a mission for toby , I think there are 3 different sizes required depending the location of the ring.
He found that CP didn’t want to enter into a conversation about gaps vis a vi application and just referred back to the standard data they supply, so that what Toby went for . The grinding process has to be done carefully in fact he had to buy a few additional rings in the end as he over did it initially. We also found that rings different ri nags vary by a considerable amount in hardness/toughness so even more required

Well toby made more progress today , all four rods and piston assemblies now in.

also note the difference in oil jet bolts , this engine hadn’t been upgraded under warranty , the new ones have 4 holes the old 2

The oil pump chain tensioner comes with a nifty little clip that keeps the the tensioner compressed until your ready and it’s all assembled , pull the clip off , bingo chain tensioner.

Honda bond , quick work again squirt it on assemble all in five mins , we did this together twirling in the bolts finger tight then torquing them tight.

Black links on chains all to do with timing marks and positions

More progress today , this after noon Toby fitted the new cam chain, guides and sundries along with the oil pump chain and guides.

The the horrid Honda Bond and on with the cover ! All bolts torqued up. Sill all very clean except the out side of the cover bit grubby really , but it is intended that the outside of the engine gets a coat of paint.
