I've wanted to do it for a while for a number of reasons.
Firstly is to test myself, to see if myself and a select few friends could successfully pull it off.
I work as a Mechanical Maintenance Shift Technician at a plaster board factory and have experience in many things ranging from pneumatics and hydraulics to pumps and conveyors.
I know my way round a tool box and I'm willing to have a go at fixing anything.
Having said that I still have a lot to learn about engines and such, I'll never claim to know it all because I simply don't.

I love the F20C but I've always felt it could do with just that little bit more torque.

I also enjoy doing things differently! Also when it's done it'll be a very unique car, my car!
I thought about going down the turbo or SC route but I dunno, it just felt uninspiring buying a kit.

The main reason that this has finally gotten under way is due to a summer evening bbq. The leader of the local car club that I'm in was tooting about how his rx8 was getting an engine swap to an RB25DET (skyline engine) and that it was going to be one of the most awesome cars ever.
After a few beers of him tooting I decided that I was sure my S2000 would beat him down the drag strip, so I challenged him and he agreed.

The date we have set for this race is the USC weekend 2014, fastest time of the weekend wins.
I'd love to hand the guy a slice of humble pie but I look forward to having a car which is unique more.

I have a few cosmetic plans too but they're on hold until I've got it mobile on it's own power.

I was going to do some work on it tonight but I have a few jobs to do and I'm kinda ill and tired so I'll be giving it a miss.
I don't like to work when tired, it's not safe.

Thanks for the support!

That little torque increase is going to be a bit OTT . I love projects like this. Keep us updated about the challenge too. Good luck!

Good luck brother.

One of my friends is doing an engine swap on a r32 gtr. He's a genius. I was telling him there's a forum member in the early stages of a ls2 swap and his eyes popped lol. He's always wanted to something similar to an s2k but is just too big to fit into one lol. I look forward to the finished article.

All the best.

Good job. I intend to keep my S2000 for the day I own a house with a garage. As soon as I have my own space I'll be looking to do a very similar swap.

What are you doing for the rear diff and driveshafts? I've read that you can keep the stock setup, but its likely to break given some abuse from a V8.

I already have a spare S2000 diff just incase it breaks, I'm initially building it with stock rear end. I'll trial it at a drag day, initially soft starts and work my way up to see how it copes.
If it breaks I'll fix the broken bit and baby it home and push hard to get the rear done.
I've got a very good deal on a set of Monaro rear end parts which if they're no good to me I can sell on for a profit and go down the ford 8.8 route that the Americans seem to love.
I will be beefing up the rear end at some point. When that happens is purely down to how long I have left in between getting it mobile and early August 2014.

I'd hate to have the car half in bits come race day!

I conversely am doing this swap before I move out and buy a house! Haha
It has been useful so far as I'm only 10 minutes away from my work and my mates garage and also I'm only paying the old dear a small contribution to board

In regards to there being no room, your mate is pretty much spot on. The bay requires some trimming of a few parts, one of them being the cross member!
I'll be replacing that though unlike those fruity yanks over the pond.

When I head to santapod for my test day I'll put a thread up a couple of weeks or so before I go and if anyone wants to come along and watch they're welcome, hell if its going well I'll take anyone who is bold enough to ask down the strip as a passenger!
I've been to a few "RunWhatYaBrung" days and I must say its a good laugh! Some awesome cars too.
The best time I managed with my S2 was 14.7s over 1/4 mile.
My starts need a little work.
I had 225 45 18" tyres all the way round, decat and 28mm uk exhaust mod.
