Default Brake pedal click

At the end of my lovely roof down drive today I noticed a faint click/thud from under the steering wheel somewhere.

It occurs when I haven't braked for a while and then as soon as I touch the pedal, if I then brake again I can't hear anything.

Brakes feel fine otherwise so it confuses me bit... Any ideas?

I thought of that or maybe a pad with a bit of play on but it seems to come from inside more.

Did have the roof open though so will take it for another drive later with the roof up.

Is there a brake light switch on the pedal ? if so could that be the culprit ?

There is indeed.

OP - Does it come from inside the foot well? get your head in there and check the nuts behind the pedal are tight!

Did you feel it or just hear it?

In my experience weird clunks often turn out to be droplinks.

Had a look under the dash today, nothing wrong there I don't think. Droplinks are all fine, will have to check the pads for play on them, that's the only thing I can't think of.

Unless there's something wrong in the brake system or abs under the bonnet but I can't see anything wrong there either and it does brake normally.

Sure it's not just the return spring on the pedal? Mine clicks a little bit.

The switch is ok, I reckon it's the pads moving cos it doesn't happen every time I brake but more randomly.

Will find some time this weekend to have a look.
