Buying a number plate off this site

You can still transact putting a private on a car at a DVLA regional office.
I did this recently. Had to take my certificate of ownership of the plate, together with some other docs (existing V5, driving licence I think) to the place that made the "official" plates, they knocked them up in about 10 minutes.
Ordered some "show" plates from the gtgrafix (you don't need any documentation for that as they are "show plates"). They arrived in about 48 hours.
Then I took the certificate of ownership, my current V5 and my existing tax disk to the DVLA regional office, they processed the paper work there and then and gave me a new tax disc (dated the same) with the new reg on it. Once I had the new tax disc then I could put the new plates on the car.
When you swap the tax disc over you send the old one back to the DVLA.
A week or so later the new V5 arrived in the post.

I had my private plate on my old CTR for 4 years. Paid 80 quid to retain it last year when i sold the CTR.
Now just applied it to my S2 at DVLA and didnt cost a thing to apply to it. Just went directly to DVLA in preston in my lunch hour with my retention letter, my Tax disc and my MOT and they did it there and then in 5 minutes.
