Calling all SRS/airbag experts

Calling all SRS/airbag experts
Right, better go back and begin at the beginning.
I bought a rollover hoop speaker kit, and went forward with the relatively easy task of fitting it, cable ties etc (anyone who has one will know what I mean).
I also made a very tidy (or so I thought) job of drilling a small hole in the roll hoop upper trim to run the speaker wire, which is neatly covered by the speaker kit front cover.
Everything was hunky dory for my short trip to test the surround sound (very impressive BTW) but as I return home on a later trip I notice I have an SRS light on.
After a little perusing of this forum and the service manual I found the SRS lamp reset procedure, which worked fine, right up to the point where I turn the steering wheel and then it re-appears.
I can start the car, idle and rev,and move forward and back without it rearing its ugly head, but as soon as I get past a quarter lock on the steering wheel in either direction it comes on.
I would love to think this is something other than what I have done with my rear speakers, but since that is my most recent modification; particularly in an area which has SRS connections I am forced to believe that by pure bad luck I have drilled through and nicked one of the wires.
Unless anyone thinks otherwise?
If I am right, it now means I have got to take the roll hoop trim off and inspect any damage, but I was lead to believe that splittling the roll hoop trim will incur the wrath of the rattle gods?
What can I do?

IIWU, download the service manual and diagnose the fault.
It is possible that you nicked a wire, which is now shorting to earth. I doubt that wires actually run through the roll hoops though
It is also feasible (and coincidental) that the SRS harness on the wheel has packed up.
AE has some sort of tool from Honda to test the SRS...might be worth giving him a shout.

Thanks for replying.
I will contact the chap you mentioned.
One thing is slightly confusing me though, I could happily accept that I have cocked this up by drilling the roll hoop trim, but I have done lots of research and all the wiring seems to be at the back of the roll hoops, where they plug into the tensioners, not the front where I have drilled.
Oh, and why is it only related to turning the steering wheel???
Would it be obvious if I took the wheel of and looked at the ribbon/cable thing behind?
The frustrations!!!
Thanks again.

Happy to post you the SRS cable to test it - not a clue how it works, I was sent it by my Dad. He had issues with his, but not sure what the outcome was.
PM me if you'd like to borrow it

AE, I have PM'd you regarding the SRS tool, but your 'ring' would be useful
And Rob, in your (highly knowledgable) opinion you think this SRS ring sounds most likely? I dont nomally believe in coincidence, given the fact that I had drilled into the roll hoop trims the day the SRS light illuminated, but as mentioned before its the steering thing I cant work out.
Thanks again.
