Default Can the passenger air vent be removed easily?

I did something really stupid this morning. As I was climbing into the S, I reached over to put my laptop bag into the passenger foot well and I clipped the passenger air vent as I was lowering the bag.
The air vent was forced down (closed position) and the bit of plastic that connects all the fins together popped off an managed to fall down the vent duct (the plastic bit looks like a spine that runs vertically up)

Does anyone know if the passenger vent is on clips and can be popped out?

I haven't driven the car, so I'm hoping the plastic part is just inside the vent duct.
