[QUOTE=Shipley,Jan 10 2008, 10:09 PM]I was under the impression you only needed one to do both jobs.

Once the pulses are effectively slowed (no longer KPH but MPH) then in theory the speed limiter wouldn't kick in until a speed higher than the car can go

Make any sense ?

[QUOTE=Dembo,Jan 10 2008, 10:25 PM] Yes, but it's a problem of where the wire is split. It splits once, with one going into the ECU. Then another wire disappears off behind the dash where it splits in two again with one going to the speedo, and one going to the EPS.

If you want the EPS to get the correct unmodified speed, you need two converters: one after the first split and before the ECU, and one after the second split before the speedo. Attempt at a diagram:

[CODE]
gearbox ------------------------------------------------------------------------ EPS

Right, I'm going to stick with the way it was originally done. Stop putting ideas in my head.

One more quick question. I know the connection won't be as good as a soldered one but, is there a particular reason why I can't just crimp on some butt connectors and use heat shrink insulation to protect the connection?

water ingress and corosion over time wont make for a good conection, hense the term dry joint. Personaly with it being under the car get the iron out do it right once never have to do it again. The extra 5 mins now may save you doing this exersice again.

And to your idea of using shrinkwrap. Tidy and precise means you wont have to keep repairing
