I got a free battery check this morning with the first hard frost of the year - yes, we have frosts in the south . Car would only just turnover with lots of click sounds.

I drove about 100 miles yesterday so hoping it isn't something else. Put the battery on charge for a couple of hours and it started fine.

I am fairly sure it is the original MY05 battery so 7 years isn't bad. When I bought a new battery for the accord, the main dealer, very surprisingly, was the cheapest around. Does anyone know if this is still the case?

Same here. Mine only just started this morning. I think the battery from Honda isn't actually that expensive.

I had exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago, battery just died overnight. I managed to get it to charge enough for one more start but after that it was finished, just wouldn't charge even left overnight. Mine is also MY05 and I think it was the original battery.

I didn't have many options as I had to buy local, so the best I could find was £72 from a local tyre place. Is that good or bad?

^^^^ mmmm debatable that is mate.

Halfords on trade are reasonable, Rebadged Varta/Yuasa batteries ( possibly the best about )

HB057 battery is circa £50 with 3 year warranty and all.

OEM battery = very good and reasonably priced.

My first Hellfrauds one didnt even last a year - it never did quite sound right when cranking even from the start.

Got one under warranty earlier this year and its been fine since.

Make of that what you will.

Honda one was around £50 with a bit of haggling for me IIRC. Cheaper than any of the alternatives which ranged from £69-£100
