I got my battery refurbed for £22.

I use a Li-Ion one now becuase they don't lose charge and are extremely light.

A better, cheaper mod than getting a carbon bonnet!

Quite an interesting idea - never thought about that Li-ion before as I'm 15 stone a Slimfast plan would always be the most logical choice to get my car lighter. However a 20lbs drop is quite a lot !

A bit of searching found this thread:

FWIW I have a Halfords one and I hate it just because of the brand (came with the car) but it's working fine and holds a decent charge so I have no complaints.

Halfords = 69.99
Honda 63.00
Tegiwa = 45.00 +10.00 but the fitting looks like it could be different (smaller?)

I wanted to put in today as the last thing I want is to be stranded again, so got the Honda one.

I am sure I could have got it a little lower in price but life is too short.

thanks everyone for your input.

note to self: investigate how you get a trade Halfords card.

If you have any kind of engineering qualification or mechanics or work in the trade it is a piece of piss. I used my engineering degree to get mine and said I work in the engineering dept on a ship.

It saves you a lot of money on oil, bulbs, tools and now I know, batteries! However, one should not neglect the local motorfactor either...

I agree with the above. I have a halfords trade card, but as they are so overpriced normally, it just makes the items around the same price as Wilcos! Haha!

Not really...I've read about, and know plenty of owners who haven't had the best experience with non-OEM batteries over the years. There will be some cases that prove the opposite too however.

You pays your money and takes your chance...

Tegiwa is for JDM cars, not UK cars.

If you can't afford £63 for a battery that will probably last 5+ years or £1 per month, then you've bought the wrong car.
