Default Clicking, oil related and Bonnet Pin Switch

Been getting a clicking, sometimes on startup, sometimes after a journey when the oil I guess is thinner. Thought it might be pre tensioner, but apparently it could be that I've topped up with a different oil and this may be causing the noise?

Also, the quality alarm went off twice last night, suspecting the bonnet switch, went to WD40 it, but, the switch seems to have disappeared/disintegrated.....will i find the equivalent at Hellfrauds, or shall I fashion one from a paperclip...did you know 85% of all paperclips are abused, think about it.

The clicking did disappear after a topup of oil, but I think I used a slighlty different grade and this may be causing the clicking?

Any advice appreciated, and if you can send 2 "pound" a month we can start helping those paper clips to relocate to straighter lives?

Clearly you have some sort of stationery issue

That aside, the clicking you describe, is it a constant ticking? Could it just be the injectors? They click.

What oil were / are you using?

Well, oil wise (or not) Had whatever they put in during the last service, just topped up with Mobil 1 0-40.........really thought it was the pre tensioner noise, it kept coming and going, but then a 'mechanic' who works on the maintenance team at work, seemed to know a lot about the engine, suggested it was the hydraulic valves, and my choice of top up oil, meaning that at some pressures it wasn't quite doing its job?

not this engine then as they don't have hydraulic tappits

could be mechanical tappit clearance issue but would be constant

probably the normal timing chain tensioner noise, usually recommended to be changed every 30,000 miles

Very much doubt its the TCT.

Ticking noise, could be oil as you suggest or valve clerances.

TCT is a constant metallic rattling sound when stationary and is present when the car is running, i correctly diagnosed it and fixed it replacing the TCT.

You got a sound clip?

I went to Staples earlier and asked the the bird at the till,
"Do you keep stationery love?"

She replied,
"Yes Sir I do"

"But only for the first minute, then I go like a rattler"
