Yup - I changed the diff and it was still there.
NWHL changed the rear wheel bearing - and hub - as they are tight buggers. Toby may have a big enough press to extract it without destruction.
EDIT: I've now got a suspicion that they did both at the same time (it was years ago) so my earlier conclusion might be inconclusive. But IIRC, they said it was the wheelbearing making the noise. There was no discernible play that I could find.
