oh yes, what great delight they have in the office about the CTR stuffing the S..

my reply - 'Yes the CTR is a great car, my granny has a red Civic and she just loves the way she can get all of her tesco bags and the zimmer frame in...'

Seriously, Plato went balls out, the other guy drove like he was running it in, I'd like to see it again with the drivers switched on a dryer track

Ive just remebered another possible clanger they dropped last night, 'Type R, R for rally sport' or something like that, considering Rallying is something Honda dont seem to do then surely this is incorrect, R for Racing?

I watched last night with the other half and started with the words -

If its wet...

With our tyres ...

They will pan the S2000...

I should have been a Clairvoyant.

I was a little disappointed that obvious mistakes were made - Traction Control ( I don't think so), 220hp.

Unbalanced driving partners - Put Plato in the S2000 and see who wins...Put in the Clio and see who wins...

The S2000 driver didn't seem to try in the lap that hard. He never pulled away in the straights, never appeared to use all his power, and got so out of shape that at one point I thought I could have done better myself.

I now expect many more challenges from Elise, Boxster, Civic, and SLK's. Perhaps that is a good thing. I came to work in my blue today.

It is a better car than the Type R and I KNOW that - I may even show a few people on the way home tonight if they 'ask'...

Sam.

At the risk of tossing a proverbial cat in amongst the proverbial pigeons...........
............does it really matter?

Maybe it was a rigged race...................yes the S2000 would almost certainly win in the dry...................Plato is probably a better driver than the other Guy (at least they didn't put Mr. Blobby in the S2000!!!).

They said some good things about the S2000. They made some spurious comments as well.

However, I have been a little disappointed at the reaction of some of the posts on this board to the programme. Some of the 'my car is better than your car' stuff is what I see on 'other' car bbs - and something I thought this board was especially good at rising above.

Lets face it - we each like the S2000 for all sorts of reasons - looks / engineering integrity (sorry Brian ) / performance / rarity.......ah, now, RARITY!

I very much like the fact that this car isn't as common as Boxters, TT's and the like. But why is this? Badge? Possibly. Or maybe it is a car with a combination of qualities which appeals to a select few individuals. This means that it will get poor magazine reviews. It means that people simply 'wont get it'. Of course it is not easy to hear / read someone slagging off the car you love. But hell, it really doesn't matter - if we enjoy owning the car, what does it matter what anyone else thinks. Indeed, if the car was praised to the hilt by every corner of the media, the rarity would deminish. I have a sneaking feeling that Honda are going to have a massive success on their hands with the CTR - and I think this is great. It is a fantastic car, and great value for money. However this will make them a common sight on the roads, but worse, I believe that a significant proportion will be bought by the sort of guys they had doing the 'desirability' test. This will result in prangs........and CTR insurance will go through the roof.

I suspect and hope that the majority of the 'ya-boo-hiss-fix!' rhetoric has been generated by the inaccuracies in last nights program - but we all know it was likely to be so - this is 'Drivel' after all.

OK, just my 2p'sworth. I am how going to crawl under a rock and await the flames!

No offence intended - honest guys

Ianl, you have a point but I guess the real cause of my disappointment is the effect it had on the uninformed general public. This is in no way a flame at you - your opinion was sensible and well-put.

As I expected this morning I was greeted by "did you see that S2000 you like whipped on Driven last night by a Civic" and then on and on about how the S is obviously overpriced etc etc. And this from fairly car-oriented people !

One of the 3 lads interviewed mentioned how the word "Civic" somehow belittled the type R. I've had 2 Civics and my girlfriend currently drives one. I love them. Unfortunately Joe Public sometimes has a problem with the name.

Can't help thinking that in the minds of the masses the S2000 has dropped a peg or two. Unfairly.
(Or maybe its just me being paranoid )

Anybody else get any comments from friends/colleagues ?

Ian,
Fair comment ... It is just disappointing that our car always takes knocks from punters who spout inaccuracies all the time and who go out of their way to portray it in its poorest light.

I love my car and sometimes things can get a little emotive...But if you cannot express that here amongst friends then where can you???

Sam.

Never stopped all day, things like, "You should have ordered the civic, you would have had enough left to buy your lad a new car"
Still what do they know? It'll help to keep them exclusive.
