Default Drivers side window

My drivers side window make a horrible loud scratching noise when I lower it, on the way back up it is silent. The noise can only be described as rubbing chalk on a blackboard or metal on a ceramic tile, really high pitched.

Doesn't look like there are any scratches on the window itself, so I guess it must come from within the door.

Could this be down to the window coming loose in its holder? Is it easy to take the door cards off and check this myself?

Yes it could and Yes it is fairly easy. There is some stuff about this problem in the Technical section on the main board.

Try spraying silicone spray down there when the window is down.

This evening I shall attempt to remove the door cards and have a look inside, maybe a bit of grease on some of the moving parts will do the job
