i need some advice on a problem with my S...i lost the keys for the car and only got 1 set from the previous keeper so anyway i went honda and got a new key made and they told me that it had to be programmed to the ecu which is fair enough...

But my question is that is it only honda that can recode the key or can anybody do it that can keycode keys,as i called up a company mobile based and they are willing to pop down to my house and do it but im kinda unsure if its poss to do from anyone but honda the reason i called the other company is the fact that i dont have to arrange a recovery and get it taken to honda who will also charge me a a arm and a leg?

oh and its a 2000 plate i had the spare fob so no immob problems...?

 

Do a search. I can remember this subject coming up recently and I think it is a job that is possible to do yourself.

It's in the service manual and it requires a key to complete the procedure so I don't see the issue to be honest.

I won't complain if one of the mods deams it inappropriate and removes it though.
