Default ECU Tuners

Hi all,
Does anyone know or recommend any one in the midlands, specifically Birmingham way that could map my car?
I have spoken to TDI North but apparently they would lock the ECU so that's a no go unless someone knows any different?

Cheers

Do they lock the ECU or the Map? if they lock the ECU would that not stop you from using the data logging functions etc?

It's not possible to map the stock ecu on a pre-facelift car.
What kind of system do you want to map?

EFI parts in Runcorn.

Me and several other NW S2000 owners have had maps done by Chris. Specialises in AEM and Adaptronics.

Whole heartedly recommend him. A lot more reasonably priced than other tuners too.

Advanced Motorsport & Engineering at Silverstone did a great job on my AEM, wouldn't go anywhere else. They don't lock your map either.

I would be interested to know what the locked ECU business is about too, they fitted and mapped an AEM ECU that I obtained through the recent group buy. The car ran well on the run back north that day but it's been a real bugger to start since, I'm guessing the set up is too lean but I'd wellcome any thoughts from you guys.

I used this piece of advice from one of the many threads I poured over when having the same issues last year. Crank timing and min/Max rpm was the key for me - starts perfect 9/10 times now, especially when cold. Happy to share my exact figures if you need.

I have overanalyzed things in the past. I learned the answer is MUCH simpler. I'm not even worried about start up anymore.

the first step is to fix a bug in aemtuner by disabling 'crank inject all'

The second step is to increase crank injector to 10,000uS assuming stock fuel system

If you stopped right here, you will have probably have brought the startup to an acceptable level.

Further optimization:
Between 1 to 5 deg crank timing advance
Crank max rpm = 300rpm per my reading of tuning megasquirts
Crank min rpm between 35 and 40rpm (very sensitive)

Romain @ Eurospec

Chris @ EFI

Don't let a drive to see them put you off, a blown engine is a lot worse!

I agree with Tom, Chris at EFI is top notch! What he doesn't know isn't worth knowing!

Also locking a map that you have paid for is bullsh!t, you've paid for the map therefore it's yours!
