I use CD2 engine cleaner and detailer when I can be arsed!

Looked for CD2 in halfrauds but could not find any, I have bought a tin of Gunk and will attack it this afternoon.

cheers for all the above info.

Might take the battery off before I begin.

Done it, looks good, didnt actually cover any electrics in the end and she started a treat.

After I finished washed the whole car as she idled warming up and went for a 20 mile blast.

Just got back now, all looks great, everything a bit dull now in the engine as I didnt use the vinyl / rubber care as suggested as I didnt realised I had run out.

Will rince down and treat next time I pick some up.
