Default Engine Cleaner / Degreaser

Has anyone any experience with engine cleaner and degreaser?
I was wondering if it would affect the F20 engine.
I have been watching a few mod feeds and a lot of people appear to use this when doing a service.
I have never really believed it was a viable product but on researching, it would appear its a good thing to use at oil change time.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject.

Cheers

-Degreaser. Does just that, its sprayed on the engine block itself and you hose it off. Simply removes dirt from components.

-Engine Cleaner/Additives. These are added to the oil when performing an oil change. Providing your engine is in good health and you perform frequent oil changes it isn't required.

Not sure what you are talking abotu either so here goes:

a) Stuff you put in to the oil to "clean" the internals = bad
ii) Injector/Fuelsystem cleaner you put in the fuel = OK (but you should change the oil afterwards) - something like BK44 or Redline SI-1
3) Gunk/Jizer/Engine Degreaser on the outside of the engine = OK (as long as you don't get your electrics wet)

Thats the one i was talking about....
There are loads of posts and forums for different cars that swear by it.
Just wanted to know if it would mess up the engine.

Cheers for the help

It ends up thinning the oil down or loosening deposits that get stuck somewhere else - if the car has had proper servicing using fully synth oil there shouldn't be anything to clean out in the first place.
