Indeed.

The ECU has a 10min learning cycle when the car should be started and then left completely alone for a minimum of 10 mins.

Might be worth resetting the ECU and trying this.
Could you tell me how to reset the ecu?
Thank you

Make sure you have your radio code, and know how to reset the alarm.

Just pull the bloody ECU fuse! It's one of the screwy-in ones in the black box. No need to pissball with radio codes.

Seem to have bigger probes with my new engine now than idling, on way to the mother in laws for Xmas the engine management light has come on!
I truly have had enough of this car!

I am at the garage who fitted my replacement engine, the engine management light came on the other day, on plugging in there diagnostic machine the result 'vtec system circuit fault' has shown up! Am hoping this is not a big issue? Any advice?

Check the connection on the VTEC solenoid. Or whip it off & check the gauze filter's clean.

It's the tiny beer can on the front of the lump, BTW.

Cheers Nick, actually that's basically what they did. Engine management has been reset and so far so good!
