"If you've got HIDS fitted as original equipment and the car had washers, they have to be there."

This phrase is the key to it.

If you take the damn useless (try covering the headlamps in dried mud and then see if the washers clear it!) HID washers out and remove all trace of them, there is no quotable reference for an MOT tester to prove that the HID washers should have been fitted in the first instance. To cover his back he could choose to "issue an advisory note" but that would be about it to the letter of the regulations.

Bonus would be (if getting holes in bumper filled and the whole thing repainted) you could get rid of the "extra holes" HUK put in the front bumper to mount the number plate holder. Just put blanking plugs in the factory plate holder holes (following each MOT when you take the front plate off) and the whole front of the car will look so much better.

if the above fails, take them out and smoth the bumber as it will probably be cheaper!
I'm pretty sure it's mandatory to have them fitted if you have HID headlights though so that isn't going to solve the problem
FFS how many times has this come up in the last 6 months?! YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE HEADLIGHT WASHERS FITTED!!!

Look here - http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_170.htm

I can see you added a second post relating to this but you didn't clarify the point very well.

Was just trying to help dude. I'd seen something where they were tightening up on the rules that's all. Second post was just other things that could catch some people out with aftermarket steering wheels or seats.

Chill Alex

There is a lot on here to take in

Nobody know's everything all of the time

Yeah fair enough, I did go a bit keyboard warrior on it

This issue is extremely frustrating though as well as confusing when there are so many posts and threads with the ''it's a fail/it's not a fail' debate.

Maybe it should be added to the FAQ's or something although to be fair I do find that thread to be really onerous to trawl through.

I do think a modifying section/sticky should exist in the FAQ for these sorts of questions as well as the 'will these wheels fit' question as that's another that comes up all the time.

So write one up, if it's concise and good I am sure it will be considered as a sticky, and if not you can always refer people to your FAQ which you might add to your sig
