I wouldn't get too hung up on the traction control system. I am a rear wheel drive novice and took my time getting to know the characteristics of the car and building speed up slowly. When you wanted to have a bit of fun the traction control would cut power so all that happened was you were left underwhelmed and any intuitive corrections were nullified by the system. I suppose it does give a safety net in bad conditions, but in the first six months of owning the car during winter here in Scotland, I drove according to the conditions and it almost never cut in

It's shocking that for some time now I've been saying 'safety first, safety first' and that all vanished with1 sentence from a stranger.

Oh... and re: your VSA situation. They're not as bad as people make out if you have a bit of self preservation when it's tricky going
