Ah ok I didn't read the post correctly. Good to see a sense of humour in the face of possible doom.

Ok
So vtec solenoid out nothing in the gauze.
Sump off no debri
Felt the bearings no more play in one than the other
Haven't taken the caps off yet as I need someone to turn the crank for me while I am under the car. Any helpers out there?
But did find an odd mark on the casing that looks like something is hitting it and has been for a while.
I have taken a pic but don't know how to post it?
Very odd! It's not a machining mark.

Yep the photo works but I'm not sure what would rub there ? All I can come up with is excessive crank end float. Also, I'm not up to much this weekend so could come and turn the crank for you - I'm no specialist but I know one end of a spanner from the other. Drop me a PM if you think I could help and we'll sort something out.

Doug,

That's a head scratcher, mate.

I had marks like that on the inside of my V8, which were rough-cut machining marks - a known issue with the throw-a-six-to-start build tolerances on that engine. Not something I'd necessarily expect to see in the F20C, but then again, this is the first one I've seen inside...

I've got to give Mrs_6301 a lift home from work and then we're doing my son's birthday party this afternoon, but I'll see whether I can get a half day's leave over the long weekend... No promises, but I'm very intrigued to find out what's what.

Loftust, are you available too, or will you be on Domestic Goddess duty again this weekend?

Yep agree with BenRNBP, "crank endfloat" there is a thread in the UTH forum somewhere which tells you how to measure it, we had this at work once, the bloke had been riding the clutch and caused the thrust washers to wear prematurely, cost him a new block

Well noticed there, Doug.

Yup, looks like the web or counter-weight's been striking it on the way round - is there a corresponding mark on the crank?

I think it has to be crank walk too. You'll need:

10 13331PCX003
(13331-PCX-003) WASHER, THRUST (DAIDO) £15.14

If it's not too battered in there.
