i dont get why people start there cars with the clutch in transferring wear to these.

once you see these wear you treat them a little kinder. no oil flow and a cold engine, its not going to do them any favours at all.

Ok
So sounds like I have to take the engine out then?
Or can you do it with it in?
Only ask as I sold my engine hoist and stand last year. Doh!

You can't start without having the clutch in though...

Just thought
Would the ticking stop when you depress the clutch as it pushes the crank away from were it has been hitting.
Because it was still there when you put the clutch down?

Matty H
Mine starts without the clutch in?
Never known a car that has to have the clutch in when started? Only bikes do that as far as I know?

Just check the crank float with a dti and yes it is moving out of serviceable tolerance. Ass!!
Engine out and new bearings to follow.
Going to have to buy a lift today unless anyone has one I could kindly borrow??

Got a stand you can borrow mate - give me a call if you want it. You can hire a crane from the likes of hss for about £20 for the day too...

I have got some tomato sauce ready to add a bit of flavour !!

On a serious note, sometimes crankwalk can damage the crank/block, if you caught it early enough you may be lucky. Good luck
