Default Gear Box Help Please

For some reason the S doesn't like to go into gear. I had a little fiddle tonight and for some reason she'l go into gear perfectly with the engine off but as soon as its on, its as if its hitting a wall. You can even hear it trying to go into gear but its as if somethings blocking it. At first I thought maybe the gear box oil is low, cold or needs replacing but now Im not so sure. Any Help or advise would be great as Im taking her on holiday next week.
Oh and yes. The clutch was fully in. Even with it fully down earlier, at one point it grinded. The clutch itself feels fine though.

How is the wear on the clutch? I'd imagine with those symtpoms the clutch has reached the end of its life.. more likely to be clutch then any clutch cylinders...

If you think the clutch is definitely fine I'd suggest that you consider with the cheaper options first.. like if there are oil filters in the oil pan of the s2000 gear box but I would suggest clean it/buy new one & flush all the oil..

If you are fairly technical, follow the Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder oil lines and look for any leaks... feel the clutch pedal firmness.. does it become softer when held down for a while etc?

I'm guessing you're trying this when the engine is cold...the oil takes time to warm up.

When cold, try shifting into second slower too...it'll glide right in.

Have you tried pumping the clutch pedal before you engage gear? If this helps it's one of the cylinders rather than the clutch itself.

Thanks guys. I'll be driving home in a sec so I'll try pumping etc. It does mainly happen from cold, which is why I also thought it may the oil over clutch. Does still occasionaly do it when warm but not as often.

Cheers

On a flat road if you start it in 1st with the clutch in does the car want to move without lifting the clutch. If so your problem may be the clutch not disengaging correctly rather than worn out.

might be clutch drag but if it goes away when everything is warmed up it's unlikely.

The box can be a bugger when cold.

The cheap option is to change the fluid in the clutch and see if it improves.
The second is to change the gearbox oil but only use Hondas MTF3, or equivalent Motul product maybe.
You don't want to think about 3 & 4 as we are into thousands of pounds.

To check if the clutch is on its way out, pull on the handbrake hard and try starting off in 3rd - the engine should stall. If the engine keeps running with the clutch pedal up, the clutch has had it - it's not just about the feel of the pedal. If it's a question of the clutch simply not disengaging sufficiently to allow gear selection it may be a hydraulic issue as others have mentioned. Is the clutch reservoir full or not. Not full would imply a leak of some kind as this is a sealed system if it's working properly.
