Default Halfords Pro 200 piece socket/spanner set for £138 with Quidco instore cashback

I was in Halfords the other day and saw the 200 piece set is in the summer sale till the end of the month, down from £300 to £150. I've been using my brothers 150 piece set for the last few weeks while doing bits and am very pleased with it so was tempted but held off.

Also right now if you have Quidco, you can active a 10% in store cashback in Halfords which lasts for 7 days.

The cashback isn't paid on VAT, so its £12 back. I've been using Quidco for several years and have used it a lot for new home/car insurance as some of the deals can be good. Had about £370 back in total.

At £138 I finally budged!

They also do the 150 and 170 piece sets which are also half price.

All have a lifetime warranty so if a bit breaks just go back in with it and they'll swap it out. I'll take a photocopy of my receipt now!

My brother purchased their 100pc set when he was at college. Almost 10years later it's still being passed around like a prison porno.. And in good working condition!

I have the 200 piece kit and it is very good quality for the money plus the life time warranty is a bonus (keep hold of the recipt) also if you have a trade car you will get more money off, I paid £122 for my 200 piece set.

Reading the reviews one States that the ratchet spammers aren't covered by the warranty. I want the set but would be hacked off if they wouldn't replace a broken ratchet as they are the things that would get a lot of use for me

Well, the listings and the separate page on the guarantee don't say anything about that.

I suppose its one of those things where it could be a) a muppet in Halfords who doesn't know things b) a muppet who tried to open his beans with it and told the person in Halfords.

Regardless, I'd not settle for it and just write a review, I'd argue the toss with them and either get a full refund or a replacement. With things like Facebook its much easier to cause a fuss these days!

I have sent a twat to Halfords asking the question.

EDIT: It wouldn't make sense moreover because this set of ratcheting hinged spanners also comes with a lifetime warranty lol. It does say that wear and tear is not covered.

I've had one of these 200pc sets for a couple of years now - £150 is a bargain, i certainly paid a lot more than that. The ratchet spanners are great, never broken one even with some pretty heavy/abusive use. I have broken about 4 torx/allen bits but all got replaced FOC.

I have this set and had the action in a ratchet and a ratchet spanner break due to some very heavy duty use and they just replaced them. It's a really good set and well worth the investment. Nothing has broken since and quality on the set is very good.
