Default Handling question?

During my visit to Center of Gravity I was told 2004 S had MY99 rear shocks on it?? Chris had to do some magic to sort the rear ride height out and advised looking into different model year spring rates etc. I've been told the MY04 rear was a lot softer sprung with a 207lb spring rate while the MY99 has a 290lb spring rate. How will this effect the overall handling of the car and would i be better off finding someone with a pair of MY04 shocks and springs to replace them with till i have saved for some coilovers or would i be better with something like Konis and Eibachs??

I'm a big fan of bilstein. That's what I'm saving on from previous cars I had I had koni and found it very hard and not giving proper traction and always moved up to yellow bilsteins and it completely change the behaviour for road or track abuse

The MY99 rear shocks will give you more oversteer.

Shouldn't be too difficult to find a 2nd hand low mileage 04 set though, I sold mine for 150 last year I think

I met tonksy having his MY04/05 springs replaced with Eibachs the other day, he did take his old springs home with him so might be worth dropping him a PM to see if he wants to sell

I have a set of OEM rear springs, changed to Eibachs, they are like new have about 10K miles on them,

If you want them you can have them, save my wife complaining about space

He said MY99 shocks, not MY99 springs.

If you're thinking coilovers in the medium term, I wouldn't waste any time or money replacing them now.

The original owner may have gone to '99s to sort out the soggy rear of the '04 cars.

It's impossible to advise, without determining the spring & ARB rates all round, as well; you dunno what else he's changed.

Maybe Lee's solution is the simplest.
