Default Headlight problem - Q's

I had a problem with headlights driving in the dark on Wednesday night (first time I've had the lights on since buying the car)

I thought I'd correctly diagnosed the problem being down to incorrect lightbulbs fitted. H7s were in the car and they should have been H1s.

I ordered some quality H1s last night but bought some standard H1 bulbs this morning to tide me over.

I went to fit them this morning only to find that they don't fit. Bear with me, I'm a complete S2000 novice so I'll apologise in advance. From what I can tell (bending hand around the wing / front ) they're too small for the headlight.
To be honest it looks as if someone has done a 'job' on the wiring. A visit to the Honda dealer was slightly more productive as he produced a basic schematic for the headlight.
It looks to me as if one of the HID Inverters is missing - from the ns.

Does anyone have any information / photos of what should be in there or can give me any directions on how to work out what's in there. I have a feeling that there's been an issue at some point and the previous owner(s) have tried to replace the setup with a straight forward bulb wired in.

The dealer can't take it in until next week and to his credit suggested I'd be better off seeing an auto electrician as it'd be cheaper.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Is it an import??

There should be grey boxes under neath each headlight

Where are you based, and I'm sure one of the forum members from here could have a quick look, or get some photo's posted up of the problem

Hi - yep it's an import.

I'm in the North East, near Newcastle.

I'll see what I can manage picture wise when I get home tomorrow (at the gf's at the mo)

Cheers

I'm sure, the importer has done what they did to mine and by passed the HID unit and removed the HID buld and put in normal ones, and cut the base to fit them in and then added to plan wires to the back of the new buld and ran them off the feed to the HID units, it is really easy to change them back

Bloody difficult to take photos.
From what I can see / feel, there's one HID inverter still in place but there's one missing from the ns.
Is there any easy way to get at these do you know? I'm just fumbling around and can't really see what's going on.

Can you convert to a working non HID setup?

Thanks for the replies

Simoted - I'm not too far away - Washington. The chance to have a look at another setup might be helpful.

Cheers

Where in washington? I lived there for 25 years (Barmston then Blackfell). G8RUM, whos on here, is also from Washington. You may have seen us around if you've spotted any S2's around your area.
