Type V's were F20C's as well, looked at an imported one a few months back. Only difference is Variable geometry steering.

Personally, although the 99-01 provides a rawer experience than the 02-03 (suspension mod's - bit still quite raw), and the 04 onwards I would go for an Elise or VX220 for a weekend car.

The S2000 is a great car (I am on my second), but I think there are better weekend / second cars around.

Depends what you want though... if you need a boot and an element of praticality go for the S. If you are going to do track days and want a raw go-kart experience go for an Elise.

F20C - 2 litre - UK and Europe only
F22C - 2.2 litre - USA and Japan only (similar bhp and lower rev limit 8k rpm)

There are a few differences between the MY99 - MY01 models and the MY02 - MY03. The MY04 has further changes and a slight facelift. Note: The wind deflector became standard from MY01 onwards.

MY02 differences

I will try an Elise and VX220, there is something about the S2000 that just does it for me though

Probably the 9200 rpm redline... and the fact that you can get in it without straining your back
