Default Hello and some help please

Hello all. Been on here looking for a while, but this is my first post.

Proud owner of a MY00 in Silverstone.

Looking at upgrading my speakers. Already have an Alpine 9833R so I'm looking for some help regarding the speakers. Dont mind paying good money, but i don't really want to go down the route of installing an amp.

In previous cars i always used Kenwood PS equipment. I know it isn't the greatest but it sounded good enough for me.

Would i need adaptors or will most 6.5 inch speakers fit?

I think i read before that you have to watch what size of speaker due to the window.

Anyway any help on this would be really appreciated.

Thanks
Boab

Thanks for the reply.

Had a look at them and liked what i saw. But how would they sound without using an amp and connecting them direct to the HU.

I'm assuming you're running them with an amp.

a 6.5 will fit with a 20mm MDF spacer made, very easy to do and you must paint th emdf as it will seal it from damp/ moisture. dont need a amp to run them unless you want to increase the loudness.

I used JBL speakers and didn't have to make spacers .... I did have to cut the baskets though.

Thanks for the replies.

As i'm completely crap with car audio and have absolutely zero patience with fitting things the fitting of the speakers will be passed on to an "expert".

Was wanting to get ideas of speakers before i go to one. Would rather tell him what i want done rather than have a crap set of speakers put in due to it being convienient.

I hadn't thought of components as i wouldn't know where to put the tweeters. Any ideas are welcome.

Autoleads do a 14mm 6.5" speaker adapter in plastic that fits fine!
Just watch the depth as you dont want the window hitting what ever you put in

Thanks for your help folks.

Still dont know what speakers to go for. I liked the look of those alpines but i'm not going to fit comps. After reading the installation guides on here i have deceided to give it a bash myself at fitting them. How hard can it be eh . Is the basket hard to trim or is it the case that i'll know what i need to do when i get to it.

Does anyone know what the ideal mounting depth is in order to avoid the window. I've seen a set of Infinity Kappas with a 56mm mounting depth. Also looked at a pair of Boston Acoustic SL65's. Mounting Depth of 62mm.

As a guide would these seem ok.

Thanks
Boab
