Default Help.

I've just been out for a quick spin and it seems I may have a problem. I got to 7000RPM in 1st and hit the rev limiter! Just to check did it once more and then shifted to 2nd and the same thing happened, 7000RPM and splat! Face against windscreen.

Any ideas?

Del.

Engine not warmed up, Del. It's a protective measure, designed into the engine management system

You can't VTEC until the engine is warm (best to wait for 4 bars on the gauge)

You know it makes sense, Del

Well, not so sure there Mark. If you look carefully you'll see that there is actually a smaller segment discrete from the first chunky bar. So... technically it's four bars.

The warm-up limiter can be quite disconcerting the first time you experience it and the one time I've had it kick in I felt it was a lot sharper than bouncing off the 9k+ limiter.

It is pretty disconcerting - the one and only time I've hit it was when I was chasing a Boxster. Talk about egg on face ...
