Default Help Please ! PDA Holder

Hi all,

After a bit of help.

Does anybody use a pda ( ipaq actually ) in their car. i use my ipaq for satnav but it is mounted using suction pad onto the windscreen which is crap as it keeps dropping off.

In an ideal would i'd like to use a vent mount but all the ones i've seen mount the ipaq in such a way that obstructs the indicator leaver.

any suggestions ( sensible ! ) welcomed !

regards

Brodit are normally good for mounts, especially those that don't damage the car in anyway (no screws).

But for the S2000 I'm not convinced by the location:http://w3.easytrade.net/brodit_shop/product.dip?item=627093&fid=1201867

Dashmount.co.uk also have a mount that doesn't damage the car, but its also in the same position: http://www.dashmount.co.uk/march`01/71099H.htm

Take a look, I haven't seen anything else which mounts on the the dash itself, unless you want to screw something into it the dash which I think some people have done on this forum for their mobile phones.

I have the Brodit mount which has the benefit of no screws so is easily fixed/removed - a bit close to the gear lever for reverse selection but not too bad if you get the mounting position right - also handy if you need to connect to the power supply because the cable runs under your left arm rather than across your body to the dashboard.

I use a bluetooth sat receiver which means that I dont have an issue with line of sight to the sky - it might be an issue for some setups, I guess....

PXE - do you have any pics of your install. From the diagram I've seen its not clear where the iPaq ends up.

shortbloke - can't post photos I'm afraid - changed my login name and managed to stuff up my profile (and been too lazy to try to sort it out!) . I have just taken a couple of shots so could email them to you?

I use the brodit clip and active mount, no problems unless you have very long legs. It works well even with the Navman jacket (do not appear to be line of sight to the sky though). Now using the tomtom blue tooth though.

Cheers,
