Default hks vs k+n intake? actual BHP increases?

only a quick question really, and yes, i have searched, and googled, and its all conflicting.

im looking for an intake that gives gains over stock, will obviously also get it mapped in the future.

i have just purchased a hks kit (with the heatshield etc) seeing as the ***official intake thread*** said it was +7-9 bhp, ive also bought a k&n FIPK, again, some people saying they got gains over stock with this intake.

anyone got any first hand evidence of actual hp gains over stock with these intakes. any help would be greatly recieved, as i may sell the one i dont use (or keep it in the shed when i fancy a change of look under the bonnet! : )

thanks, dan.

Have a look at the last rolling road meet, you can see what difference an intake makes (not much!)

And what mods people have: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/100...t__p__22472572

General consensus is that you can't improve much on the oem intake in terms of power. You do gain a little throttle response and a decent amount of noise though, which makes it worthwhile in my eyes, especially if you can find a 2nd hand one.

Bear a tune increases gains and better them from intake for example.

Don't think you'll see any real gains until you change the exhaust manifold as well and do a remap...

Yep that's the plan, I will get a flash pro once I get a manifold sorted, no rush, as I did want to keep things fairly stock, or at least bolt on, and spending money for no reason (lg's philosophy is wearing off on my quite heavily these days unfortunately- or is that fortunately?!) and is not high on my list. As long as I'm not losing power which neither system seems to do pre remap I'm happy with either.

And I now have the oppertunity so I'll try both, and sell one in the future. Then at least I can compare the 'feel' of it.

Maybe even do a back to back dyno test, stock/k+n/hks.

Save your money and get a fifty quid eBay special like mine. Pipework is the same diameter as k&n and it gave good results on the dyno.
